Firstly, this is a Spider-man comic and I am not a huge fan of Spider-man inspite of being a huge fan of Marvel for 30+ years. The only time I ever collected Spidey on a somewhat regular basis are the Todd Mc launch Spider-Man (and left after he then Erik Larsen departed) ... and this, Tangled Web because the offbeat storylines are told with heart
So for this particular issue, it is done by Darwyn Cooke. Cooke is famous for retro artwork and story telling and this comic has so much charm that even the villainous slugfest feels somewhat "innocent"
SPOILER ALERT
Here it is in summary. As the cover indicates, it is Valentine's Day but Spidey being Spidey is out swinging about and trying to stop the Vulture from a robbery. However, this time, the Vulture is prepared and whacks him but good ... all in the face of Daily Bugle offices ... to the delight of JJJ
Naturally anything with JJJ can only complete with him blowing a gasket or three ... and we get treated to that ...
On the sidelines, or rather, other threads of the storylines include a newbie intern at the Bugle who runs for coffee, a mate (or competitor) in the barista spiking said coffee for JJJ, how JJJ got his, why the Vulture stole and Spidey's double date with double hotties!
So much goodness packed into a told in one issue! Now who says good things need 6 issues, eh?
