2.350 (715) X-Factor vol 1 #71 ... #X-Factor ... #Mutant

[Published on 28th Nov 2017]

As we celebrate our year 2 (so to speak) milestone 350th review, we selected this as a good example of how to kill a book on an upswing ... after a slow run in the mid 40s to 50s Marvel brought in superstar Whilce Portacio where they drove the tale right up to the end where baby Nathan was sent to the future to be cured!

So how do you top that and the end of many crossovers?

First, you changed the entire team in comic book terms from the original X-Men to Havok/ Polaris/ Multiple Man/ Strong Guy or Guido/ and Wolfsbane .. basically characters with potential not yet realized and then you change the concept to them being real government dogs ... serving whatever needs the government needs

Then simultaneously you change the art team to someone who produces this work. It looks like an artist's first stab at professional work and sincerely we hope Marvel didn't pay top page rates because regardless of the hype about how excited they may be, for sure, the casual fan like us will be shocked at how "ugly" things look ... sorry ... one issue and we dropped it! And we never came back until the 99th and 100th issues back when it was floppies ... sigh!
