Staz Johnson - while he is not the creator of this particular Robin, Tim Drake; for me, he is the definitive artist. And I am saying this even though I started collecting Tim Drake's run as it comes out and not from back issues. What it meant is that I have seen other creators' take and this is my fave. Why? Because his Robin is just that - a teenager who exercises and not too cartoonish in facial features
So this issue?
The cover says it all. While it may be a tie-in to some large drama in the DCUniverse called Final Night (sorry no idea what it is about), the issue is good enough as a standalone. All you need to know is that the city (the world?) is plunged into freezing cold with snow and ice. Robin is all dressed up and patrolling to help pockets of problems. Spoiler (Stephanie) who wants him to be her BF so bad ... follows him along ... even though he tries to ditch her several times (awwww ...) and finally they encountered a serious problem ... though not supervillains
The story is told in such a charming yet engaging manner that by the time I reached the end, I realized that there was no huge drama, no big plot, no super villain out to ruin Robin's day and yet it was a good, enjoyable read. I do understand for a series to continue it cannot always be like this. But once in a while, it is enjoyable to see the character behind the mask
Oh yeah the kissing? Did it happen?
Go buy the book!
