311. Villains for Hire #1 .. Marvel ...

There was a time when Marvel made Daredevil disappear and in his place was Black Panther ... yes Black Panther came to Hell's Kitchen as apparently the monarch of a country ... when he couldn't be said monarch found that one particular neighbourhood in the whole world needs a super hero 24-7! You can bet that I stopped reading DD when that happened ...

And then there was a time when Marvel tried to revive Heroes for Hire ... after it ran for a good 10 years ... and each time they did so, the relaunch lasted shorter and shorter ... and the weirdest one of all is when Cage was at the height of new found popularity thanks to Bendis' Avengers ... well, they should have used that opportunity, right? But nope! They went and introduce a new Power Man to pair up with Iron Fist! Go figure!

Anyway, after all that nonsense, Marvel got wiser and went with limited series

And this is one of its relaunches or whatever you want to call it (you can tell I am not a fan)

Here we have Misty Knight who is running a team of freelancers doing her beck and call for whenever there is an assignment with a paycheque. And her current team in this first round is Paladin (no surprises there although not sure why as he is boring), Black Panther (guess he needed the dough for the soup kitchen hahaha) and Hellstrom (was he kicked out of hell by daddy and needed money for rent or what?)

So what's the scope? Well something got stolen and Misty assembles a team to go after to retrieve without realizing that this is not so simple an operation ie. there is a mastermind behind them all. And who is this masstermind? It comes at the end of the issue (naturally) and it turns out to be ... the Purple Man. Sigh! I know his powers can make him seem sometimes nasty and horrid but it's mind control and he is purple dressed in purple. When has he ever been a real challenge?

Sigh!
