Waaaaaay back when ... there was a time when Marvel thought to kickstart its ailing titles by subcontracting out to others ... and Avengers was given to Rob ... now don't get me wrong! I am a huge fan of Rob and collected his work since Hawk and Dove and then New Mutants and X-Force until his Image run of Youngblood and other Extreme titles
But this? Well ... I am sorry. While the story is somewhat interesting the choice of artist (Chap Yaep) is average at best and the choice of cast is less than inspired. I mean Hellcat (looking like that?), Swordsman in that floaty old uniform ... sigh!
Anyway, not much different from the first run of the Avengers, here we see a threat coming that is supposedly so big that it is beyond the ability of a single hero to combat. So enter the Avengers. Here they formed, here they fight and the ending is just time enough to introduce us to the villain of the next issue which is Kang ...
Hmmm ... so very, very average at best
