From one series with average artwork, we moved on to the first of 2 limited series from the Ultimate-verse about Iron Man and this features the writing skills of Orson Card (worldwide famous sci-fi author) and Andy Kubert who simply knocked this ball out of the park. I mean, this is Tony as a baby and then a small kid. No Iron Man, no Super Villains and yet the story and art are so riveting good, that I kept turning pages until BANG the end to be continued DAMN IT! Hahaha!
But seriously this is a tale about how Tony came to be from birth (his mom gave birth to him only in this issue) ... and ending as Iron Man ... so here we see his dad, brilliant as ever, yet having a loving heart for his newborn babe ... while mom ... well ... she didn't SPOILER ALERT make it
Tony is born with some huge issues and it requires a special bio-armour fluid to keep him alive ... and all the while dad and his mates are doing more research to make the fluid better
On their backs, as there must be a villain, is fellow industrialist and a corporate shark, Stane and what Stane does is horrible. Then again, we are shown that he is surrounded by a whole bunch of equally nasty people ... wife/ butler/ lawyer none of whom is truly on his side
A good issue to read ... I didn't have 1 but I could totally enjoy this and makes me look forward to 3
