Remember our recap about the many Marvel yearly events of the past years? Well this is another one of those series where they added in the word Dark. And boy if you are not reading most of what is going on in the Marvel U, you may as well skip this series entirely because it is that confusing!
We have the Avengers now composed mainly of villains with the exceptions of crazies like Ares and Bob. And they all work under Osborn. Then from the original Illuminati, Osborn created his own "Dark" Illuminati and with Emma, they established a "Dark" X-Men
So this issue is mainly about how Emma pretends to lead the Dark X-Men into public trying to apprehend mutants, both young (Hellion) and old (Avalanche). They are effective and shows the public that they can get things under control. Naturally for the actual villains, there's a wee bit of an ego issue and the fun part is Bullseye commenting about Daken and how he seemed to be in many teams at the same time, kind of like Wolvie, eh?
Now we say pretend because in Osborn's labs/ dungeon/ prison, some other mutants including Xavier and Beast are already captives. And the Dark Beast (this one is from Age of Apocalypse) is doing some funky experiment on them. What that is remains to be seen
Got it?
If you can swallow all that, then by all means give this book a try. The artist is Luke Ross only he does more of a different style than his usual kind of like a Deodato
