And from an enjoyable read of the FF, we naturally have to do one round with the mutants, eh? And we are happy to report that this too is an interesting read and a decent artwork as well
In fact, the re-imagined uniform looks quite good on some of the X-folks too especially Cyclops new uniform. Here we get to see our muties as their powers first emerged in our world but rather than spent countless issues fighting Magneto, the story jumps right in and moves along fast. Villains of the piece? Magneto and his brotherhood of evil mutants (naturally)
Except that as this is an origin tale move forward to our times, we see the team finding out about prof X and his relationship with Magneto ... and immediately many of them have problems trusting Charles. We also see that despite his youth or inspite of his youth, Iceman is going forward and trying hard to be more grown up but having trust issues ... especially when the Beast abruptly up and left!
But the most charming aspect? It's the love triangle as we see a young Jean coming to school and is confused if she likes Warren or Scott more. And while she works it out, naturally tensions arise. And we are also treated to some laugh out loud moments especially when Scott tries to invite her on a date and went to Angel for advice and Angel talks about society girls
Hmmm I guess my review is kind of all over the place, eh?
Well in a way, that's what the story is. All over the place jumping from one fellow to the next and back again ... the villains do not take centerstage in this story but rather that of the teenagers who will one day become X-Men
