That cover? What a joke, right? I don't blame the artist but the editor or whoever approves covers. I mean come on! I know when this is launched it was a huge hit but that means all the more pressure to build up the audience and loyalty instead of just being experimental, right? Is it any wonder that the Ultimate X-Men never achieved the popularity it could have?
However, the story more than saves the readers and the interior art though a wee bit cartoony has some awesome angles especially the action scenes ... just plain awesome!
Okay the story. Basically (SPOILER ALERT) we see Wolverine (RECAP) from earlier issues coming as an agent of the opposition to assassinate Charles but instead being one of the team. So is he sincere or not? Most of the team do not trust him but Charles said yes so they are treading carefully around him and the opening scenes show us this. What a surprise and a twist! Will not tell you what it is
Next we switched scenes to the primary baddie i.e. Brotherhood of Evil who is hiding out and the X-Men decided to go take them down. Naturally both have a tough fight on the hands as both teams have equally huge headcounts at this point and equally diverse power sets and that makes it interesting. The little exchange between Pietro and Logan also hints at more to come
And the ending? Another twist as one of the X-chums appear to bite the dust! Now this should have been revealed on the
cover eh?
